What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a subspecialty within the pervasive practice of Oriental medicine, an age-old healing art encompassing such modalities as herbology, moxibustion and Chinese therapeutic massage. Acupuncture is a time tested, safe, natural, and effective medicine. It is based on the concept that Qi or "Energy" resides within the body, and its chief tenet is to help the body heal itself.

Acupuncture enhances physical performance by supporting liver and lung functions. The catalytic mechanism is the insertion of hair-like needles into specific acu-points. Just as blood flows through veins, Qi flows through energetic pathways called meridians. Together, they provide nutrients. Each meridian is connected to specific body parts, organs, or glands. A healthy body is one that has a consistent flow of Qi. When injury or disease occurs, Qi is obstructed. Acupuncture eliminates the impediment and restores the flow of Qi.
